Supervision and Supervision Support

Transactional Analysis (TA) in Supervision

At Time To Listen CIC we offer Transactional Analysis Supervision for all professionals working therapeutically, educationally or in organisations. Supervision provides a space to reflect on and improve your practice, enhancing learning and skills development in all areas of work. Transactional Analysis is described by the International Transactional Analysis Association (ITAA) as ‘a theory of personality and a systematic psychotherapy for personal growth and personal change’. Applying TA in supervision supports an individual working in any field where there is a need for understanding of individuals, relationships and communication.

Supervision support for schools and agencies working on the front line with children or vulnerable adults

Clinical supervision for accredited counsellors is mandatory and requires a minimum of 1.5 hours per month. The aim of supervision is to ensure standards, enhance quality, stimulate creativity, and support the sustainability and resilience of the work being undertaken (Ethical Framework Glossary). It is based on the ability to have an honest and open discussion, enabling the counsellor to reflect on their own feelings, thoughts, behaviour, and general approach with the client. Also, to offload any pressures or concerns they may hold with regards to that person in this safe and supportive environment. This supervision is not performance driven and is confidential between both parties.

For many working on the front line with children they only experience line management supervision, with limited opportunity to explore the relationship between themselves and their charges. In the current climate we are seeing a significant rise in children's emotional and mental distress, with front line workers, such as teachers, teaching assistants, safeguarding leads, working hard to support, guide and nurture them with limited avenues to verbalise their own distress, fears, and concerns. As a result, they often have high levels of anxiety and stress. At Time to Listen we provide either individual supervision or group supervision on a monthly, six-weekly, per term or a bespoke package. It is a collaborative process, offering a safe space without fear of judgement or criticism. It is a place for reflection, gained awareness and deeper understanding. Also providing time and space to express and explore what is going on for both yourselves and those you support. Supervision in this way helps ensure the effective development of yourself as a professional and supports your own emotional and mental health.
